The Himlung Expedition follows the Round Annapurna route from Kathmandu to Koto and then towards the Nar-Phu villages. After exploring the picturesque villages of Nar and Phu, climbers proceed to Himlung Base Camp, where the expedition is established. From Base Camp, three high camps are set up to prepare for the summit push. The entire expedition takes approximately 31–35 days, covering Kathmandu to Kathmandu. The best climbing season is September and October.
Mt. Himlung is gaining popularity among climbers as one of Nepal’s less-visited peaks. It lies between Nepal and Tibet, north of Annapurna and Manaslu, and majestically towers above the Tibetan village of Phu in western Nepal. Opened for climbing in 1992, only a few expeditions, including teams from Japan and France, have successfully attempted it. The journey begins with a 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Beshisahar.
