The Langtang and Gosaikunda Trek is one of the most popular adventures in Langtang National Park, located in the northeastern part of central Nepal, close to Kathmandu. This trek offers a rich blend of natural beauty and cultural experiences, taking you through deep gorges, rocky trails, pine forests, yak pastures, hillside terraces, and serene valleys. You will also explore picturesque villages, mystical Buddhist monasteries, and breathtaking glaciers originating from the high Himalayas. A highlight of the trek is reaching the sacred Gosaikunda Lake (4,380m), an alpine freshwater lake nestled high in the mountains of Rasuwa.
The trek begins with a scenic drive along the Trishuli River from Kathmandu through Trishuli Bazaar and Dhunche, ending in Syabrubesi, a Tamang village on the banks of the Bhote Koshi River. From here, the trail follows the Langtang River, leading to Lama Hotel for the night.
On the next day, the trek continues from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village, one of the largest Tamang settlements in the region. From there, you will head to Kyangin Gompa, where you’ll spend a day acclimatizing. During this time, you can visit the yak cheese factory, explore the Tserko Ri viewpoint, and experience the serene Kyangin Gompa monastery, immersing yourself in the local culture and stunning mountain scenery.
