The Langtang Tamang Heritage Trek is a newly opened off-beat route in the Langtang region, developed by the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Program (RPAP). It combines natural beauty with the unique cultural traditions of the Tamang people, whose roots connect to Tibetan civilization.
The journey begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi and a trek to Gatlang, a hillside village with terraced fields, a Tamang monastery, and the sacred Parvati Kunda Lake. The trail continues to Tatopani, famous for its natural hot springs, then to Thuman, known for Himalayan views and shamanic practices. From there, you follow the ancient trade route to Briddim, a Tamang village near the Tibetan border, home to Dukchu Gompa.
The trek then joins the classic Langtang Valley route, passing Lama Hotel’s forests rich in wildlife, Langtang Village, and beyond—offering rhododendron forests, waterfalls, meadows, and the chance to experience authentic Tamang culture up close.
