Pikey Peak Trek

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After some rest, you can explore the bustling streets of Thamel, a popular tourist hub filled with shops, cafés, and trekking gear stores. In the evening, we will host a short trek briefing and discuss the journey ahead. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, you will set out on a guided sightseeing tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley. The tour includes visits to Pashupatinath Temple, the sacred Hindu shrine; Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world; and Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), offering panoramic views of the city. You will also explore the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square, a showcase of traditional Nepali architecture and culture.

In the evening, final preparations for the trek will be made, including a review of gear and travel essentials. Overnight stay in Kathmandu.

After an early breakfast, you will start your journey with a long scenic drive from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar (approx. 7–8 hours). The drive passes through winding mountain roads, lush green hills, terraced fields, and charming villages, offering a glimpse of rural Nepal.

From Dhap, your trek begins with a gentle walk along mountain trails surrounded by rhododendron and pine forests. As you ascend, the landscape gradually opens up, revealing the first distant views of the Himalayas. After about 4–5 hours of trekking, you will reach Japre (2,930m), a beautiful village perched above a valley with stunning views of Everest and Numbur Himal.

Today’s trek is a highlight as you make your way towards Pikey Base Camp. The trail climbs gradually through dense forests of rhododendron, pine, and fir, with prayer flags and mani walls marking the path. You will pass through Yak herder settlements and open ridges that offer mesmerizing views of the Everest range and surrounding peaks.

After about 6–7 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Pikey Base Camp (3,640m). The area is peaceful and surrounded by alpine landscapes, making it a wonderful spot to rest. Depending on your preference and arrangements, you can either stay in a local lodge or enjoy a camping experience under the stars.

Early in the morning, you will hike up to the summit of Pikey Peak (4,065m) to witness one of the most breathtaking sunrises in the Himalayas. From the top, you can enjoy a panoramic 360° view of the world’s highest mountains, including Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Annapurna, and Manaslu, along with many other peaks. This is the ultimate highlight of the trek.

After soaking in the stunning scenery, you will descend back to the base camp for breakfast. From there, the trail continues downhill through beautiful forests, meadows, and Sherpa villages. The journey takes about 6–7 hours of trekking, eventually leading you to the charming village of Junbesi (2,700m), known for its ancient monasteries and rich Sherpa culture.

Today is a cultural exploration day in the Sherpa heartland. After breakfast, you will visit the famous Thubten Choling Monastery, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the region. Founded by Trulsik Rinpoche in the 1960s, the monastery is home to hundreds of monks and nuns who follow traditional Tibetan practices.

Walking through the serene surroundings of the monastery offers a unique spiritual experience, as you observe daily rituals, chanting, and the peaceful lifestyle of the monastic community. You will also have time to explore Junbesi village, interact with locals, and learn about Sherpa traditions, culture, and hospitality.

After breakfast in Junbesi, you will begin your final day of trekking. The trail descends gently through pine and rhododendron forests, passing traditional Sherpa villages and terraced farmlands. Along the way, you can enjoy scenic views of the surrounding hills and snowcapped peaks in the distance.

The trek takes about 4–5 hours, bringing you to Phaplu (2,380m), a small but lively town in the Solu region. Phaplu has a local airstrip and serves as an important gateway for trekkers and travelers. In the evening, you can relax, explore the town, or celebrate the completion of your trek with your team.

After breakfast, you will leave Phaplu and begin the long scenic drive back to Kathmandu. The journey takes about 8–9 hours, winding through green hills, river valleys, and picturesque villages along the way. It’s a great chance to reflect on your trek and enjoy the changing landscapes as you return to the capital.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu (1,350m), you will be transferred to your hotel. In the evening, you can relax, do some last-minute shopping in Thamel, or enjoy a farewell dinner celebrating the successful completion of your Pikey Peak Trek.

Your journey in Nepal comes to an end today. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time to relax, shop for souvenirs, or explore more of Kathmandu. Our representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight.
